Corporate Governance and Directors Duties Workshop
Wednesday 10 March 9.30am - 12.30pm
How much do you know about Corporate Governance? TAKE THE QUIZ
Are you a director of your own business or are you considering registering your business as a company? Are you on the management or investment committee of your organisation or are you an honorary Director on the board of a not-for-profit organisation? If so you need to be aware of the extent of the responsibilities and duties you are taking on and what is expected of you.
The financial crisis has highlighted the importance of good governance in financial stability and sustainability. In 2010, we can expect that it will become an even more important aspect of a company’s management that regulators, banks, investors and purchasers will look at when making an assessment of an organisation’s future.
Using a dynamic blend of case studies and discussion that will help you experience what it’s like in the ‘hot seat”.
This course will cover the key areas of:
- The principles of corporate governance
- Duties and responsibilities of directors
- Ramifications for breaching duties and director defences
- Applying corporate governance to small business
- The role and advantages of independent directors and a well run board in managing risk and growing the business
Who should attend?
- Directors of small and medium sized businesses
- Members of committees of larger organisations who have significant decision-making responsibilities
- Those who hold honorary director roles on not-for-profit boards
