Start Small - LOOK BIG
By Kathryn MacMillan
1. Get organised: Write up your priorities on large paper and tape to the walls of your office. Take them down as you complete your tasks!
2. Build the brand and recognise it as a separate entity. Be consistent with your branding. Think creatively about your brand – look at corporate branding.
3. Perception is reality – How do you want to portray yourself to your customers ? Highlight your experience, expertise and professionalism to ensure your customers perceptions become reality.
4. Build external leverage from media and marketing. How do you make certain other people are taking about your business – by being the expert in your field.
5. Always question and learn from others ? Who else can help me? Can I get free advice? Free services? Do I utilise my local BEC, TAFE etc.
6. Ensure your back office processes can cope with your business. Develop your systems for work flows. Contact the BEC for the Micro Business Starters Kit and Nine2three for some extra help with temporary or permanent staff.
