Do's and Don'ts of Branding

By Chris Chan

Top 5 Considerations when creating a Brand Name

01.

Avoid over used words for next generation products

02.

Avoid adopting SMS text message short hand

03.

Avoid long names that are difficult to say

04.

Avoid taking the easy way out and settling on initials

05.

Avoid suggestions from uninformed sources

Top 5 Considerations when creating a Brand Logo

01. Simple in form

The Brand Identity contains only one graphic idea as the focal point.

02. Distinctive

The Brand Identity just needs to be distinctive enough so you can "own" it in your particular market segment.

03. Practical

The Brand Identity must be able to be printed small and work in various colour applications.

04. One Message

Great designs follow the "less is more" approach, expressing just one quality, such as stature, speed or dynamism.

05. Appropriate

The Brand Identity’s reputation and personality must reflect the intent of management.
