What Our BEC Does
Who is the Business Enterprise Centre?
The BEC St George & Sutherland Shire was formed in 1989 and is part of a network of not for profit, community based Business Enterprise Centres (BEC’s) throughout Australia. The BEC St George & Sutherland Shire provides a free confidential Business Advisory Service with funding from Trade and Investment NSW to businesses covering the St George Region, Sutherland Shire, Botany and Bankstown Local Government Areas.
We are an independent organisation that strongly focuses on creating local small business opportunities, with nurturing and support for small business start ups and growth in Southern Sydney. The mission of the BEC – St George & Sutherland Shire is “helping businesses in our community to prosper and grow”
To fulfil our aims we:
Deliver
- information, advice and training to start up and established small businesses
- counselling services to businesses
- practical business advice and support
- mentor programs for businesses
- Industry based networking groups and clusters
Promote
- local employment initiatives
- local business networking groups
Assist
- preparing business plans
- promotion of small businesses
- information on new business opportunities
- information on government services, funding and programs
- mentor support for business clients
- a referral service to specialist professional advisers
