Meet The BEC Board

Ken McDonell
CHAIRMAN

“As a Councillor on Sutherland Shire Council I am conscious that small business success brings prosperity to our community. Success in small business creates wealth which in turn creates jobs. I am happy to be part of the Board of the St George/ Sutherland Shire Business Enterprise Centre because through the BEC jobs are created for the young people of the region.”

Terry Dewing
TREASURER

“I became involved with the BEC because many years ago I saw a real opportunity & need to help small business. My concern was that there was no where for the business owner to turn to for that guidance & support they needed. Especially when they were just starting up or in some trouble & needed help. It was time to put something back into the community from which we all prosper.”

Dawne H. Clark
SECRETARY

“Small business and home based businesses are integral to a thriving St. George and Sutherland Shire. Being able, as part of the BEC team, providing support, advice and networking to assist businesses cope with the continually changing operating environment, rules and regulations, is important to me.”

“As the Mayor of Hurstville City Council and a member of the BEC, I am committed to promoting local business and young entrepreneurs, and wholeheartedly support the aims of the organisation.   For the past sixteen years it has offered a broad range of programs of a very diverse nature such as sound advice, seminars/workshops, mentoring and networking opportunities, to assist the development of small business across the region.  It has been my pleasure to see it grow in strength and resourcefulness.”

“Revitalising economic activity, creating community friendly commercial areas and reinforcing partnerships with local businesses and the community are my priorities as a Councillor with Rockdale City Council and a member of the BEC Board. Managing a small locally operated family business gives me a sound understanding of the information and resources small business need to survive.  I am proud to be associated with an organisation that can assist business in many ways.”

I look forward to strengthening our partnership with the BEC and delivering further workshops and seminars to small business owners within the Kogarah Council area.”
